AWSP Credit Bearing Classes
As part of their mandate to serve the membership of the Association of Washington School Principals, the AWSL and Cispus and Chewelah Peak Learning Centers offer a small selection of credit bearing classes for high school students. These week-long intensive courses allow students to pursue credit recovery and complete courses that they were unable to take during the school year due to conflicting class schedules or personality conflicts with instructors. The course offerings have changed throughout the years, responding to demand from state principals, and have included laboratory science courses taught at the University of Washington, field science classes at our Learning Centers and mathematics coursework. Currently, we offer math, science, and leadership credit strands in the Dare to Dream program, and Outdoor Recreation, Health and Fitness classes at both Cispus and Chewelah Peak. AWSL is currently investigating foreign language instruction as a possible future course offering, and we are always looking to increase our course offerings to meet the needs of schools of all sizes around the state.
